In Loving Memory ~
It is with great sadness that the family of Angela Jean Gibson (nee Bono) announce her sudden and unexpected passing on August 3rd, 2023.
Angela was born on May 22, 1961 in Comox, B.C. She spent her early childhood in Cumberland and moved to Woss at the age of 11. Angela graduated in 1979 from North Island Secondary School in Port McNeill and soon after that she flew the nest to start her adult life back in Cumberland.
She worked at a variety of retail jobs there before moving on to Victoria for a job with the Ministry of Health. Eventually Angela found her way back to the North Island where she worked for the Ministry of Forests for 36 years. In 2010 she married the man of her dreams, Ken Gibson, and the two built a life together in Port McNeill.
Angela is survived by her husband Ken, parents Ed Sr. and Valdene, brothers Ed Jr. (Carolyn) and Ray (Tammy), niece Lauren (Anthony), nephews Nick (Danielle), Clayton and Ethan, step-nephews Curtis and Travis, and great niece Raegan.
She is also survived by her mother-in-law Judy, sisters-in-law Teresa (Doug) and Sarah (Brent), nieces Tish (Jay) and Mikayla, nephews Josh (Jess), Nick (Moira) and Jordan (Teagan), great nieces Lexie and Betty, and great nephews Brantley, Bo and Bennett.
Angela was a force to be reckoned with. It was obvious to all who knew her that she loved her family fiercely. She was a natural care-giver and was always quick to offer a helping hand. She loved kids and was affectionately known as "Auntie Ang" by many. Angela was an amazing cook and regardless of how many were coming for dinner, she usually made enough to feed a small army.
She enjoyed the simple things in life and always had time for a cold beer with friends. Angela will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all of her friends and family, and will remain forever in our hearts.
Please join us for a celebration of Angela's life on Saturday, September 23rd at 1:00 p.m. at the Port McNeill Curling Rink. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 281 or the Broughton Curling Club will be gratefully accepted.
