Anne died peacefully in the early hours of the morning at the age of 98 years at The Views, St. Joseph’s Hospital in Comox. She will be remembered for her sweet and gentle nature.

She was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and raised in Lynn Valley (North Vancouver), the sixth of seven children. She worked as an infant-care nurse, then as a keypunch operator at Burrard Dry Dock during the war, where she met her husband, Donald. She was a devoted mother to Catherine and Graham.

Anne loved to sing and was a Charter Member of the Lions Gate Chapter of Sweet Adelines in Vancouver. She was an active member of the chorus for over 30 years.

Anne was predeceased by her parents, Mark and Harriet McMillen, and all of her brothers and sisters, Robert, Marcus, Beatrice, Sylvia, Lila and Walter, and her husband, Donald. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Catherine (Douglas) Porter of Courtenay, son Graham of Courtenay, and her many nieces and nephews.

Thank you to Dr. Carol Galway, and all the nurses, care aides, and volunteers at Eagleview at St. Joseph’s, for the wonderful care you provided.

Following Anne’s wishes, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, 102 – 1509 Cliffe Avenue, Courtenay BC V9N 2K6.
