It is with heavy hearts that we announce that on Tuesday June 26, 2018 Anthony Ivan Grdina, father, Nonno, Boccia and uncle passed away at age 79 at the Royal Colombian Hospital in New Westminster.
Anthony will be deeply missed by his wife and best friend Lorraine (Giuseppina Genovese) and their children Chris, Jamie (Lori), Lianne (Enzo) and grandchildren Chelsea, Bradyn, Austin, Matteo, Jacob, Ethan, Serafino and Enzo Jr., his siblings Josie (Joe), Norman (Joan) and Noreen (Bob). Anthony will be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends.
Anthony had a passion for life, love, family and baking. He grew up in the family business later taking it over it was known as "National Bakeries". In the years that followed, he would open additional bakeries, known as, "Anthony's" where he was known for serving up kindness and friendship to all that walked thru the door.
True to his character, and keen eye for quality, days before his passing, he was out mentoring and guiding a team of bakers who were making one of his favourite breads "panettone". Making sure It was done right and tasted good was always his focus. Of course, he always had the first bite.
Owner of a home in Kye Bay, for 37 years with great memories of grandchildren enjoying the beach, eating clams, oysters, more bread and much fishing.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations are given in memory of Anthony to: "Heart for Africa Canada, " a charity focused on bringing hope to the people of Swaziland by focusing in the areas of Hunger, Orphans, Poverty, and Education.

A Celebration of Life and reception will be held on July 15, 2018 at 12:00 pm followed by a Memorial at 2:00 pm at the Roma Hall in New Westminster, BC. 940 Ewen Avenue.
