Marvin passed away Monday morning at St. Joseph’s Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Marvin was born in Cumberland General Hospital to Rose Pearse Wain Watson and William Arthur Watson, the youngest of 5 children.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Arthur (1951), Rose (1962) and Reg (1964). Marvin is survived by his wife, Donna, his daughter Kelli (Les) Reynolds and grandsons Michael and Mathew; his sister Elvina (Al) Kilpatrick, borthers Albert Wain, Will (Agnes) Watson, sister-in-law, Ann Errington and a large extended family of nieces and nephews.

Marvin spent his childhood in Cumberland and graduated from high school in 1952. he attended Victoria Normal School in 1952-1953 and began his teaching career in Sayward. A long term employee of School District 71, he served as teacher and administrator until retiring in 1988.

Marvin was active in varied community activities, particularly those related to children and seniors. Following his retirement he enjoyed travelling and varied outdoor activities especially golfing as a long time member of Sunnydale Golf Club.

Marvin family appreciates the care and concern of Dr. Woldnik (cumberland Medical) and the doctors associated with BC Cancer Services, as well as the nursing staff of St. Joseph’s Hospital.

A Gathering for Remembrance will be held at St. George’s United Church at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 12.
