Oct 14, 1935 – Dec 23, 2017
Born Audrey Smith in Hamilton, Ontario. As a young adult Audrey became a member of the RCAF reserves where she met her soul mate Dale Collings. The couple soon married and spent a short time in Cold Lake, Alberta before being posted to Marville, France where they had their first two children.
After four years abroad, Audrey and Dale moved to the Comox Valley, where they had their third child.
Audrey worked at several jobs over the years but in 1978 Audrey and her husband embarked on an exciting new opportunity and together bought and operated a men’s clothing store in the Driftwood mall. They would run the business for the next 15 years and then retire to enjoy life and their grandchildren.
Audrey was also a huge baseball fan never missing a game of her beloved Toronto Blue Jays.
A devoted wife and mother, Audrey is predeceased by husband Dale, and survived by sons Roy (Deborah) Stephen, and daughter Lorraine (Mitchell), grandchildren, Jason, Mathew and Tarryn and great grandchildren, Harrison, Rosalie, and Quinn.
Audrey enjoyed the laughter and companionship of her family and friends. She had a sharp wit and would always try to find the best in people.
Sadly, Audrey passed away quietly in the night of December 23rd.
We honour our mother’s wishes in having no service and know that she is loved and will be forever in our hearts.
