DUNBAR

Austin Joseph

August 24, 1942 - May 23, 2009

Passed away in Comox B.C. surrounded by family. He fought a long and courageous battle with terminal lung cancer for more than 3 years, during which time he cared for his loving wife of more than 40 years Lynn during her illness with ALS He loved her with all his heart and soul. He was predeceased by his wife Mary Linelle (Lynn) Dunbar on July 29th, 2008. Joe is survived and will be greatly missed by his sons Peter J. Dunbar (Audrey) of Peachland, B.C. and Paul M. Dunbar (Jody) of Summerland, B.C. as well as his grandchildren Paula and Kelly. Joe started Comox Valley Drywall Ltd. in 1980 - The company specialized in custom built homes for nearly 20 years in the Comox Valley and earned a solid reputation for delivering high quality workmanship. Most people who knew Dad knew that he had a green thumb! What amazing gardens he grew in the past. He will be remembered for his many accomplishments growing corn, pumpkins and a wide variety of other vegetables as well as his ability to pickle them. Dad was a man who felt it was important to finish each clients home better than he would his own. He enjoyed working in the soil and always enjoyed a good joke or story with friends or family. Special thanks to first responders - paramedics to Dr. Woldnik and staff, Lori and all the 3rd floor staff and Mary on the second floor at St. Joseph’s Hospital. If friends so wish, donations in Joe’s memory made to the Canadian Cancer Society, #102 - 1509 Cliffe Avenue, Courtenay, B.C. V9N 2K6 would be appreciated.
