Barbara Ann Martin (nee Thomson) passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at the age of 78 after a lengthy struggle with lung disease.
Barbara was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, and after a much loved 35 year career with Air Canada moved to Courtenay in 2006. Barb enjoyed her cats, as well as travel, golf, reading, shopping, playing Mahjong. She especially took pleasure in her sewing, and was most proud of her handmade mohair teddy bears.
Barbara will be deeply missed by her three daughters; Deborah Holmes (Byron) of Dallas, Texas, Patricia Knutson (Kevin) of Calgary, AB, and Teresa Martin of Calgary, AB. She will be lovingly remembered by her seven cherished grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her four sisters, numerous nieces and nephews, and her many dear friends in the Courtenay/Comox valley.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the wonderful people who surrounded Barb during her last few months - Frances, Dianne, Eva, and Tania, your love and care of Barb was beyond measure. The many wonderful VIHA care aids, Rachel from Nurse Next Door, Melissa and sweet little Autumn, Nadine and Amanda, and many more wonderful friends, you all made our mum's final chapter in this journey so much better and we are forever grateful.
