July 7, 1955 - October 12, 2019
It is with a huge ache in our hearts but trust and hope in the ultimate goodness of God that Barbara Lily Postal was welcomed home by her Savior and friend Jesus Christ on Saturday October 12, 2019 following an eight week struggle with cancer.
Born on July 7, 1955 to Polish immigrants Barb grew up and went to school in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. At age 20 Barb received her Registered Nursing Diploma from Brandon General Hospital. Her nursing career spanned four decades where she was always well loved and respected by her patients and co-workers. Recently Barb retired from her 20 year position with Home Care Nursing in the Comox Valley.
In 1976 Barb married her high school sweetheart and best friend Dave. Dave & Barb's love story was blessed with four sons and daughter-in-law's along with seven precious grandchildren who Barb adored and who were the joy of her life. July
For the past 42 years Barb has served alongside her husband Dave in pastoral ministry including 22 years in Saskatchewan and the last 20 years in the Comox Valley at Comox Pentecostal Church. As a pastor's wife she served with selfless love and grace. Dave always said: "She made me look good."
Barb was the real deal! It didn't matter what role she had, she gave her life for the benefit of others. Her smile was contagious. Her kindness and compassion for others was genuine. Her wisdom and grace was sought after by many. Her photography was inspiring.
At the very core of Barb's life was her deeply personal faith and love story with Jesus Christ. In the final entry into her life journal she wrote these words only days before her cancer discovery. "There is so much that can take away my joy in circumstances but Jesus is my joy and He never changes. Thankyou Lord for infusing your joy into me. I have joy because you are joy."
Barb is survived by her loving husband Dave Postal, four sons and their spouses and seven grandchildren. Jeremy & Candace; Silas, Anna Jane. (Whistler) Jonathon & Shawna; Megan, Brooklyn. (Abbotsford) Matthew & Whitney. (Victoria). Jabin & Andrea; Jacob, Lincoln, Cyrus. (Comox). She is also survived by her sister Dianne Pratt; brother Alex & Gloria Borczuch along with numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Alex & Lucy Borczuch and her brother John Borczuch.
On behalf of our family we would like to thank everyone who has supported us in so many ways including the amazing nurses and doctors at Comox Valley Hospital and the tremendous care provided by the CV Home Care Palliative team who gave of themselves for their friend and colleague Barb. We are incredibly grateful for the hundreds of messages, cards, prayer, love and hugs and for Comox Pentecostal Church for caring and supporting us with many practical needs, meals, spiritual care and so much more.
A Celebration service Celebrating Barb's Love Story will be held on Thursday October 17th, 2 pm at Comox Pentecostal Church, 1919 Guthrie Rd. In lieu of flowers donations in Barbs honour can be made to the New Chair Fund and or Building Fund at Comox Pentecostal Church by Cheque or Online: www.cpclife.com
