Beatrice Elizabeth Horton

Horton, Beatrice Elizabeth

June 15, 1926 – Dec 14, 2004

Bea passed away peacefully on the morning of December 14, 2004. She had many health concerns that she fought for many years. She was born the eldest of three girls in Waltham, Massachusetts. Her family returned to their roots in the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia when she was 4 years old and settled there. Bea and Norman (Pete) met when she was working in his family’s home and married in November 1951. They moved to the Fredericton area of New Brunswick in 1956, where they resided for 13 years. Bea felt the call of the wild and they moved “out west” in 1969, landing in a logging camp, Kokish, on Northern Vancouver Island. From there they went to Nimpkish Heights, Port McNeill where they built there own home of stone and cement. Bea loved family, friends, animals, reading, photography, painting and nature. She will be forever remembered by her husband Pete; daughter Nancy; son Robert; grandson Jesse (mother Lylania); granddaughter Jasmine (mother Dorothy); sister Doris; her many friends and family East and West. And also by her favorite friends “Angel” and “Shea”. A Memorial Service will be held in Port McNeill in January, date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donate to a charity of your choice.

Do not stand at my grave

and weep

I am not there,

I do not sleep.

I am a 1000 winds that blow

I am the diamond glints

on snow

I am the sunlight

on ripened grain

I am the gentle autumns rain.

When you awaken in the

morning’s hush

I am the swift uplifting rush of

Quiet birds in circled flight

I am the soft star

that shines at night

Do not stand at my grave

and cry

I am not there I did not die.
