“It’s Been A Slice”

On Saturday, April 18th the Comox Valley lost one of their life long residence. William Benjamin Bridges affectionately known by all as Ben or Benny Bridges passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Ben was born in the valley and was the grand son of Charles Bridges, one of the original settlers of the Comox Valley in 1862.

Ben leaves behind his three children Mike, Blake (wife Ola), Chelsea, and five grand children Sequoia, Charley, Oszyn, Zohar and Tyson. Two sisters Eleanor Nordin and Betty Strachan. We are going to miss you.

Ben was a jovial character full of witty one liners and humour-us stories with a great robust laugh. Everyone loved Ben’s kind and generous soul and good fun loving nature. Ben loved his children and grandchildren and was always happy to see them. He would always say “you should stop around sometime”. Everyone who knew Benny Bridges knew his favourite drink was an ice cold Lucky in a chilled glass. True to form, one of his last requests was for a Lucky.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Native Sons Hall on Sunday, April 26th, one day past his 74th birthday, starting at 2pm. Coffee, tea, pop and ice cold Lucky will be served. Everyone welcome. Come share a story, hear a story, see “what shakes”. Last round is on Benny Bridges get there before the ship sails.
