ST. PIERRE - Bernard "Ben" of Courtenay, passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital on Saturday, April 25th, 2009. Ben is survived and will be lovingly missed by his wife Margaret; sons Bernie St. Pierre, David Malcolm and Scott Malcolm; daughters Michelle Onysko, Colleen Malcolm-Taylor and Robyn Tatum; grandchildren Caitlin, Stephanie, Megan, Mathew, Jordan, Malique and Kala; his sister-in-law Marie St. Pierre of Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec and sister Jacqueline Fortier of Kirkland Lake, Ontario.

Ben served in the Canadian Navy from 1957 to 1977, retiring as a Master Warrant Officer. Following his retirement he worked for the Government of Canada at the dockyard in Victoria. In all, he worked for 35 years as a civil servant. In his leisure, Ben enjoyed playing golf, watching hockey and sports of all kinds. He was a member of the Comox Valley Celtic Club and the Evergreen Seniors. Ben will be remembered as having a great sense of humour drawing people to him wherever he went. He loved to tease and thoroughly enjoyed meeting friends for coffee and a good chinwag about anything that came up. Ben loved his little dog "Missy" who also misses him very much. A gathering of family and friends in Celebration of his life will take place on Thursday, May 7th from 2 to 5 pm at St. John The Divine Church Hall, 5th Street, Courtenay.
