Bernice passed away peacefully at home in the presence of her family after courageously battling cancer. She is loved by and will be missed by her husband Pat of 52 years, children Gillian (Leo) and Christine (Tim), grandchildren Nathan, Keira, and Graham, sister Joanne, extended family and friends. Predeceased by her parents Jean and Fraser George.

Born in Nanaimo BC, Bernice spent her childhood years growing up in Qualicum Beach where her parents ran the Crescent View Motel. She went on to attend nursing school in Victoria, received a Public Health diploma in Vancouver, and later completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Bernice was a dedicated Public Health Nurse for over 30 years. Her nursing career took her to Kimberley, where she met her husband Pat. Together they moved to Gibsons, where they lived for over 40 years, then locating to Courtenay to be closer to their grandchildren. Bernice maintained lifelong friendships with classmates from childhood and nursing school, as well as neighbours and colleagues. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading, gardening, and she was an outstanding cook.

A special thank you to the doctors who provided Bernice care and comfort in her last months of life, nurses Julia and Necia, home support, and Comox Valley Hospice Society. Bernice's immediate family will hold a private celebration of life.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to either the Canadian Cancer Society or your local Hospice Society.
