Betty Harriet Gidlof was born Dec 12, 1927 in Los Angeles California. She grew up in Seattle, Washington. She married Art Smith and had a daughter, Constance Elaine. She divorced Art and later met Ralph Gidlof at the University of Washington where, she majored in journalism. They had four children, Beth Bradley, Nicole Gidlof, Sigrid Gidlof and Eric Gidlof. They moved to Courtenay in 1968 where they lived for a short time. Betty moved back to Courtenay in 1970 where she had a small landscaping company. She was concerned about poverty, the environment, peace and social issues. Betty was always a caring and loving person, a dedicated mother and grandmother. She leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. There will be a celebration of life on January 17, 2015. Please contact Beth Bradley for details.
