On January 6, 2020, Bohdan (Dan) Sokoluk of Cumberland, formerly of Edmonton, passed away at the age of 94 years.
Dan is survived by his two daughters, Lori (Kevin) and Lisa Kazimea (Jenn) and her children Kian, Inanna, Delfina, and Kestrel; his brother Peter (Alice) and his sisters Jeanne (John) and Irene. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends. Dan is predeceased by his beloved wife Kathy, son Milton, brother Oleh and sister Vera.
Dan was born in Ukraine, and immigrated to Canada as a young boy. He lived most of his life in Alberta, moving to the Comox Valley after his wife passed away so he could be closer to Kazimea and the grandchildren. Dan taught industrial arts in schools for many years in Edmonton. He was an avid gardener, dancer, curler, and loved to search garage sales for things he could repair/restore to beauty and usefulness. He was always patient when teaching someone how to design and build things, and use tools. Right to the end, Dan loved a good story or joke.
A memorial service will be held in Edmonton later this year. In lieu of flowers or other tributes, please consider making a donation to the Anderton Therapeutic Gardens Society (Comox, BC) or the SPCA.
