August 16, 1932 - January 31, 2021
This is to honour our father, husband, and grandfather, Bruce Lawrence Castel who died on the 31st of January 2021, after a struggle with health issues.
Bruce's nickname was "Mick". He was born in Halifax, N.S. in 1932. After high school he joined the Royal Canadian Airforce and served for 32 years.
He was posted to Metz, France where he met his wife Gloria and they were married in Metz, France. They had two children, Sheryl and Robert and three grandchildren. Mick retired on the Queen Charlotte Islands. After retirement he joined the Comox Legion and enjoyed his comrades there. He loved running, salmon and trout fishing and did not like the cold weather.
Mick was predeceased by his father Frederick Castel, mother Susan Castel, sister Muriel Castel, brother Ralph Castel, and brother Bill Castel. He is survived by his loving spouse Gloria Castel, sons Robert and Bruce Castel, daughter Sheryl Lynn Uhlman (Jay), grandchildren, Joshua Ulman, Clayton Castel and Chardaye Castel.
Mick's life was about a few things; his family, the military, running and staying active. He lost the last few years due to a stroke. He then lost his connection to the military, the Legion, last year. He never lost us, his family. We hope now he can get back to the other things that bring him joy - wherever he is.
Mick was a sincere man who will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
