July 26, 1946 - March 2, 2025

In loving memory ~

It is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Bryan Treen in Courtenay, BC on March 2nd, 2025, at the age of 78.

He will be dearly missed by the love of his life, his wife Connie, and his children Susan (Hiep and granddaughter Phoebe), David and Mary (BJ). Bryan is survived by his twin brother Alan (Linda) and his sister Vivian (Ed), and nieces and nephews, Nigel (wife Casey, Amelia) and Nicole. He is also remembered by his sister-in-law Karen and nephews Jason (wife Lori & Gavin, Ainsley, and Jillian), and Keith.

Bryan was born in Blackhill, England, July 26th, 1946, and immigrated to Canada with his twin brother and his mother, a war bride. The family moved from Vancouver to Alberta when Bryan was young, and he was raised in Edmonton where he met his wife in 1967 and began working in the family business in 1969.

Bryan's career spanned over 3 decades in the manufacturing industry, leaving an indelible mark on glove production and leather goods with Treen Custom Leathers, The Alberta Glove Company, and later Belden Industries. Under his leadership, Belden industries expanded internationally and became a recognized leader in (ISO) quality manufacturing.

After retiring, Bryan and Connie settled on Vancouver Island where he pursued his lifelong passions including black and white photography, music production, cars, travel, and Arts organization and administration. Bryan was a founding member of the Denman Audio Arts Collective that still presents regular open stage concerts in The Hall.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all of the health care workers for their compassionate care for Bryan, with a special shout out to Dr. Justin Elliott.

Those who wish to honour Bryan's memory may consider making a donation in his name to the CKNW Kid's Fund (formerly the Orphan's fund), The School of Music (SoM), or the Aitken Hospice in Courtenay.

Bryan's funeral service will be held Saturday March 15 at 10 am at St. Peter's Anglican Church in Comox, followed by a reception in the hall. Everyone is welcome. Casual attire was Bryan's request.
