In loving memory ~
Cal, our dear husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully at the age of 81 years on Sunday November 17 at Aitkin Community Hospice.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Valetta; son Cameron (Nicole) daughter Christine (Mike); adored grand-daughters: Laurel, Alyssa, Amy and Emily, brother Barry (Teresita) , nephews Francis, Anthony and Bryce and niece Jennifer. He will also be dearly missed by friends in Calgary, Victoria and the Comox Valley, in particular his special buddies Claude and Peter and faithful friend Don. Cal worked as a geophysicist in Alberta before he and Valetta settled in the Comox Valley in 1996.
Cal loved his family and we are so grateful to have been with him in his last hours. He also was a lover of adventure and took two off-shore journeys on his sail-boats: Whyac to the South Pacific and Rafiki to Mexico. Our family has so many special memories connected with sailing both off-shore and here. When health concerns ended 35 years of sailing, Cal took up photography enthusiastically and there are many beautiful examples of his work in our home. He was a quietly faithful man as an active member of Comox United Church and has been described by so many as a kind soul with a caring heart and an endearing sense of humour.
The family is very grateful for the wonderful care he received in unit 3B at the Comox Valley Hospital and at Aitkin Community Hospice. Our heartfelt thanks go to Dr. C. Bullock for his respectful, compassionate care of both Cal and our family through this journey.
A celebration of life will take place at Comox United. Date TBA In lieu of flowers please donate to Aitkin Community Hospice or a charity of your choice.
