Carl Ettinger passed away peacefully at home in Courtenay with his loving wife and son at his side on February 14, 2007. He was predeceased by his parents Lillian and George and infant daughter Carla. Carl is survived and will be forever missed by his loving wife of 30 years Edwina; his sons: Bryan, Eric, Michael (Ursula), Glen (Connie), and Martin (Miriko); his daughter Lorna (Garth) Woodward; his grandchildren: Brendon, Dana, Jolene, Sean and Danny; his sister Georgina (John) Newstead; his nephews: Steven and Donnie; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Carl worked at Western Pulp in Port Alice for 25 years and was on the C.E.P. union executive for many years and was also on the Mount Waddington Labour Council for many years. Carl loved hiking, photography, fishing, bicycling and many other outdoor activities. He rode his bicycle 4 miles to work and 4 miles home for many years. He loved airplanes and he and Edwina visited very many airplane museums. Carl also loved playing his guitar and singing. He loved to tell stories and entertained his friends with stories of Seymour Inlet. He had a great sense of humour and was a warm, loving family man. Family and friends will have a Memorial Graveside Service at Courtenay Civic Cemetery on Friday, March 9th, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. with Chaplain Gordon Carter officiating. Arrangements entrusted to COMOX VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 1101 RYAN ROAD, COURTENAY. Donations made in Carl’s memory to the B.C. SPCA, Comox Valley & District Branch, Box 1284, Comox, B.C. V9N 7Z8 would be appreciated.
