Carol Ellen Simms

Simms - Carol Ellen, on July 4th, 2003 at the UBC Hospital, Vancouver. Born in 1930 to Janet & Harry Simms in Courtenay, BC, she was their first child and only daughter. Carol attended Queen Margaret’s School in Duncan and later York House School in Vancouver. During her working life as an X-ray technician, teacher and supervisor she spent over 35 years at Vancouver General Hospital where she had an integral role in establishing the X-ray protocols for the Cardiac Catheter Lab.

Carol enjoyed her summers at Little River on Vancouver Island, traveled to many exotic countries, was an avid photographer and, like her mother, a lifelong gardener. She is lovingly remembered by her brother Tom and sister-in-law Maureen of Vancouver, nephew Graham and Fiona of North Vancouver, nephew Ted and Erika of Richmond, grandnephews Duncan and Alasdair of North Vancouver, grand-nieces Carolyn and Hannah of Richmond, cousin Dick and Val Graham of Little River, cousin Bill and Jacqui Graham of Burns Lake, lifelong friends and co-workers Bev Wilson and Pat Archibald of Vancouver, extended family members David and Andrea Brawner and Marguerite McCartney of Vancouver, Marilyn Simms and Janet Jones of Comox, Ron Jones of North Vancouver, and godmother Barbara Clement of Comox.

Memorial Service will take place at 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 10th, at St. Mary’s Kerrisdale Anglican Church, 2490 West 37th Avenue, Vancouver, BC. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Carol’s name to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
