It is with the heaviest of hearts that the family announces the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother on Thursday September 23, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Comox, B.C.
Carol was a strong willed person. She was born in Windsor, Ontario. She raised her family in Woodstock until she moved to B.C. in 1977. She was predeceased by her parents Isabelle and Art Vance, her children Teressa and Michael and grandson Matthew Proud.
She will be deeply missed by her daughters Jean (Larry) Proud, Angela Rockett, her sons Marty and Shawn Hill and missed by her grandchildren Michael, Victoria and Chris Proud, Ashley Hunter and Emily Berryman will proudly remember their banga and also her great grandchildren Damien and Justice.
She leaves behind her brother Art (Audrey) of Alberta, her sisters Janel, Marggie (JIm) and Verna (Rick) from Ontario and Stephen (Michele) Hunter as she loved him like her own son and many nieces and nephews. Her greatest joy in her life was her grandchildren.
She loved a good joke. She worked at St. Joseph’s for over 20 years until she retired.
A special thanks to Dr. Hunter and all the nurses on 3rd floor for caring for our mother in the last months of her life, to the Home Support Workers over the last few years. A heartfelt thank you to Caroline Ireland for who was a wonderful advocate.
No funeral by request but a memorial tea will be held at a later date.
