Charles Thomas born October 25, 1951 in Comox, BC passed away December 19, 2016 in Port McNeill, BC. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Charlie Cunard. Charlie is survived by his loving daughter Tanya (Chris), grandchildren Grace, Grady and Evelyn; his sister Betty (Rich), his brother Jim, his nieces Sarah and Crystal, as well as numerous other family members and friends he made throughout his lifetime. Charlie was predeceased by his mother Christina and his father James. Charlie grew up in the Comox Valley racing around town in his old 57 Ford with his best friends Ricky and Eddie. Together they shared a love of fast cars, motorcycles and good times. He spent his career mostly in the logging industry as a welder and fabricator, a skill he was very proud of and excelled at. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t dream up and build to perfection. He was a big guy with a heart of gold and while he wasn’t perfect, he was ours and we loved him. Rest in peace Charlie. Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday January 7, 2017 at 1 pm in the Lower Native Sons Hall on Cliffe Avenue in Courtenay.
