It is with great sadness that the family of Charles (Charlie) William Scarff, beloved husband of Margaret Scarff, announce the passing at Nanaimo Hospital on February 8, 2007 at the age of 80 years.

Charles leaves to cherish his memory, one son Tom Ferguson of Nanaimo, four daughters, Sally (Phil) Groot of Cumberland, Marlene (Bill) Baumel, Joan Drybrough, all of Nanaimo, and Shirley (Peter) Ensor of Comox, nephew Lorne Scarff, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, several nieces and nephews and his faithful dog Boss.

He was predeceased by his father Edgar, mother Linda, brother John and sisters Kathy, Grace and Agnes.

Charlie was born February 15, 1926 in Wiseton, Saskatchewan. His family made their home in Cumberland, BC when Charles was 5 years old. He went to school, grew up with and eventually on January 7, 1957, married Margaret in the United Church in Nanaimo. He worked at Mayo Lumber Mill in Nanaimo for many years. He always made sure that his family came first.

Before retirement, Charlie came down with many health problems. After retirement, Charlie would spend countless hours at the mall chatting with anyone that went by. He loved to visit with anyone.

Charlie became ill and was not home for his 50th wedding anniversary on January 7th.

A Celebration of Charlie’s life will take place on Wednesday, February 14, 2007 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 10, 129 Harewood Road, Nanaimo. Cremation to follow.

As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 401-495 Dunsmuir Street, Nanaimo, British Columbia V9R 6B9.

Charlie will be laid to rest in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, Cedar, BC.
