It is with the heaviest of hearts that our family announces the loss of our beautiful mother and loving friend, Cheryl Diane Brown (Cheri). Cheryl passed away peacefully on May 16 at Nanaimo General Hospital after a long and courageous fight. Her beloved sons, Scott, Joel and Christopher Torry were by her side.
Cheri was born in Mission, B.C. on March 20, 1951 to Stan and Margaret Brown. She spent her childhood in Nanaimo, Cumberland, Lake Cowichan, Princeton, Salmo, and Denman Island; and later raised her family of four sons in Courtenay and Royston.
Cheri is predeceased by her parents, her brother Ken (Sam) Brown, and her sister Colleen Picketti. In January of 2019, Cheri lost her much-loved second son, Dustin, and missed him every moment.
She is survived by her sons, Scott (Laurie), Joel (Deb) and Chris (Anna); her brothers Vince and Steve (Jan) Brown; and two stepdaughters, Shawna and Angela. She also leaves her precious and loved grandchildren, Jesse, Josh, Cole and Sophie; and her step-grandchildren, Jack, Ivy and Max.
Cheri was the most incredibly caring and loving person you could ever meet and saw only the good in everyone. Through the most challenging of times, she always remained positive and was forever grateful for the blessings of family and friends. She taught us to always choose joy.
Our Mom will be dearly missed by all of us but will forever be in our hearts.
A service will be held in early fall, when restrictions will allow.
