COFFIN

Christine

October 9, 1945 - February 12, 2009

Christine's long, brave struggle against ovarian cancer has ended. On February 12, 2009 she died from that illness, her sharp, dry wit and interest in the world still intact.

She was predeceased by her parents, Wilhelm and Anna Maria (Bill and Anne) Schreiber. She is survived by her partner Rick Coffin, daughter Simone Fluter, son Greg (Robynn) Fluter, grandchildren Jacob and Katelyn, sister Barbara (Francis) Waldbillig, nephew Mark, and niece Lisa.

Born in Germany on October 9, 1945, Christine's first of many moves was to Canada with her family in 1951. She grew up in Regina, then traveled with Rick while working as a medical transcriptionist in Colorado, Connecticut, New York City, Nova Scotia, California and Washington before settling in British Columbia in 2001. She loved pets, books, and spending time in her yard listening to pubic radio. Her beautiful garden was filled not only with plants but also with sparkling rocks and shells she had collected and painted.

An informal memorial will be held in Courtenay on Sunday, February 22. Donations in remembrance may be made to the National Ovarian Cancer Association. Christine's enduring spirit was assisted by Dr. Mark Woldnik, Home Care Nursing, and the pharmacy staff at Shopper's Drug Mart, Courtenay.
