Cornelis J. “Casey”


Born in Leiden, Holland on June 27th 1939, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hos-pital, Comox on Tuesday, July 12th, 2005. Pre-deceased by his infant son Casey and his parents and brother Harry, he is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife Linneal; daughters and sons Cheryl, Jacquie (Russel, Casey and Ben), Len (Amber, Matt, Sarah and Will), Rob (Arlene, Brittany and Nicole), and Brian; sisters Louise (Tom and family), Margaret (George and family), Anne (Joe and family), Corine (Vincent and family) and Jenny and family; brothers-in-law Terry (Barb and sons) and Joe (Sherry and girls), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Casey immigrated to Vancouver, Canada in 1955 and worked for the Vancouver Parks Board for 14 years as a certified gardener. He met and married his wife Linneal and had six children. Casey moved to Vancouver Island in 1974, settling in Merville and in 1975, he started his own janitorial business. In 1998, he retired to enjoy life, walking, talking with friends, drinking coffee and playing cards. Thank you very much to the nurses and staff in ICU and the 3rd floor of St. Joseph’s Hospital for their kindness and compassion shown to Casey and his family during his last days. A Memorial Mass will be held from Christ The King Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, July 23rd at 11:00 am with Father Paul Murphy, celebrant COMOX VALLEY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORIUM, 1101 RYAN ROAD, Courtenay, entrusted with arrangements. Should friends wish, donations in Casey’s memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Unit 360, 1385 West 8th Avenue, Vancouver, B.C. V6H 3V9 or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, P.O. Box 1225, Comox, BC V9N 7Z8 would be appreciated.
