In Loving Memory ~
On January 2, 2025, after a challenging and valiant two-and-a-half-year journey with a brain tumor, Cris passed away peacefully, as per his wishes, with his family by his side, at Aitken House Hospice in Courtenay.
Cris was born in England on July 6, 1943, and came to Canada and studied Law. After graduation he moved to Vancouver Island with his young family and opened his private practice in Courtenay and had a long and successful fifty-year career.
Cris will be immensely missed by his long-time soul mate Kathy Penner, his children Emily (Bill Lakeland), Greg, step grandson Ben, brother Michael (Ann) in England, and numerous other relatives and friends.
He is pre-deceased by his parents Cyril and Margaret, and his brother Tristram.
One of Cris's favourite past times was to spend summers sailing with Kathy exploring the coast on their beloved AquaGem. They also shared a love of adventure and traveled abroad cycling, hiking, and snorkeling. And closer to home he enjoyed many family ski holidays and puttering in the garden. A perfect night for Cris involved good food (often potlucks) followed by games and cards.
We could not have made it through the past two and half years without the dedication, professionalism, compassion, and support of so many people.

One of Cris's traditions was to light candles on our Christmas tree (just for a few minutes).
