In Loving Memory ~
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Curtis Gary Waterfield on December 12, 2024, in Courtenay BC.
A beloved son, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend to many.
Predeceased by his father Ronald James Waterfield, and Grandfather Garry Harold Waterfield. Curtis was born in Nelson, BC. He grew up in Procter/Harrop then later moved to the Comox Valley with his family. He was a natural athlete who enjoyed lacrosse, snowboarding, wake boarding and dirt biking.
Curtis had the most generous soul. As a young boy he expressed his love with generosity and acts of kindness. He carried this trait throughout the years. Even when he was going without, he always offered help to others regardless of whether it set him back further. He was the type of guy who would give the shirt off his back for others in need.
He took pride in his ability to work hard - he was incredibly determined and resilient. He was so talented and had a brilliant mind with so much potential. His humour and generosity gravitated others towards him. He will be missed dearly by those who knew him.
Like many in society today, Curtis struggled with addiction. Even with many attempts to help him navigate a debilitating disease, he finally lost the 10-year battle. It brings his family peace knowing he will no longer suffer, although with sorrow knowing he could not be saved. Even with the resources available to him it was not enough. Curtis had recently expressed wanting to make changes and had big dreams for his life.
During his last day on earth, he was seen by many who loved him, living to the fullest, expressing his love for his family and of course continuing his generous nature. We hold space for Curtis' bright light and will cherish the memories of him.
