Slater, Cynthia Elizabeth
January 16, 1919 - June 4, 2006
It is with heartfelt sadness the family of Cynthia Elizabeth Slater of Courtenay passed away suddenly at St. Joseph’s Hospital at the age of 87.
Predeceased by her husband Ernest Charles Slater (June 1, 2001), sisters: Lena Crisp and Kathleen Frame; brothers: Sid, Gordon, Ken, Victor and Leo Crisp; grandson Bradley Everett; and her great-grandson Robbie Everett.
Cynthia is survived by her children: Gwen (Art), Bill (Joyce), Heather (Richard), Gayle (David), Gene (Beth), Maylene (Wes), Cathy-Lynn (Gord), Jill (Keith), and Shawnette (Hub). She leaves 24 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter, also her 2 sisters: Verna (Ernie) Sjuberg of Courtenay and Yvonne (Mick) Maassen of Tacoma, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cynthia was the foundation and roots of the family that has formed with so much love and respect molded into each of us.
A Funeral Service and Celebration of Cynthia’s Life will be on Saturday, June 10th at 11:00am at Comox Valley Funeral Home, 1101 Ryan Road, Courtenay followed by an Interment in Courtenay Civic Cemetery. A time of fellowship and refreshments will be held in the Garden Room and Outdoor Patio of the funeral home following the service.
