RASKOB, Cyril Henry

August 7, 1940 ~ August 7, 2010

Cyril passed away peacefully on the evening of his 70th birthday surrounded by his family. He leaves behind Darleen, his wife of 48 years, and children Theone (Ron), Lynn (Alan), and Dale (Kim) and grandchildren Rachael, Jarrett, Riley, John and Eva. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend and will be greatly missed by all.

Cyril retired as a Warrant Officer after serving 38 years in the Air Force including five years in the Reserve. During his career, he and his family were posted all across Canada and had one tour in Germany. He made many long lasting friendships along the way.

Those who knew him knew of his love of golf, curling, and those Roughies from Saskatchewan. Cyril especially enjoyed taking quarters from his friends on the par threes at Glacier Greens and making it to the 19th hole for a cold beer.

Cyril led by example, teaching us all humour, courage, integrity, love and how to enjoy life to the fullest. He enjoyed cracking jokes and entertaining others his whole life, and even in his final days, his hospital room was filled with more laughter than tears.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Harris, Dr. Engman, and the St. Joseph's staff in the Cancer Clinic, Daycare, Third Floor and ER. We would also like to thank neighbours and friends who have provided wonderful support.

As requested by Cyril, when the family travels back to his Saskatchewan hometown of St. Gregor next summer his ashes will be buried alongside other family members and friends who have gone before him. No flowers please; however, if you wish, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Cyril.

Your condolences will be approved within one business day. You will need a valid Facebook account. Please email us if you have any questions.
