In loving memory ~
Father to Troy (Heather) Ritchie and Nicole (Tony) Coell Grandfather to Paige Ritchie, Jesse & Shyla Coell; Brother to Donna (Tom) Hallmark; Life partner to Deborah.
Danny was predeceased by his parents Richard(Dick) and Helen and his second wife Venetta.
Danny passed away suddenly and quietly at home with Deb by his side at 9pm Sunday April 10, 2022.
Danny was born in Hillsborough Oregon and at the age of 13, Danny, his parents and sister Donna moved on to Canada and settle in Campbell River BC and as an adult he made Gold River his home until his death.
Danny adored his three grandchildren Paige, Jesse and Shyla. He and Deb were looking so forward to many adventures and more memories this summer. He loved you all so much, you were his heart and pride. Any chance he got to talk about you he seized and enjoyed. He loved his daughter in law Heather and "in law" was never used in reference to you.
One always knew where you stood with Danny but he was a friend to all but he had his opinions if challenged.
Danny's love was golf followed closely by curling. He loved Geezer Day at Gold River Golf and Country Club with his buddy's but what he enjoyed the most was spending 18 holes with his son Troy and was so proud to be out there with "his son" then sitting afterwards at the 19th hole for the replay and a beer then on to the "Branch" for one last one before heading home.
Danny was one of a group of founding members of the Gold River Golf and Country Club, he wore that badge with pride, promoting it every chance he got.
Five words best describe Danny, loving, honest, respectful, loyal and proud.
Those who were loved by him were blessed.
You never wanted to mention politics with him unless you were prepared for a hefty debate.
Danny made a multitude of friends over the years whether it be here or on his many trips to Arizona or Hawaii with his second wife. They were blessed to enjoy 7 years down south.
He valued his friendships and the memories made. Danny is missed immensely by his family and community of friends. We his family look forward to celebrating his life which will be announced at a later date.
We are eternally grateful to Gold River Fire and Rescue, Gold River Ambulance and Gold River RCMP for your care and compassion in our time of darkness.
Our deepest gratitude to those who have called, dropped by, offered hugs and tissue and words of comfort.
Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in Danny's memory most appreciated to The Gold River Golf and Country Club or Royal Canadian Legion Branch 270.
