Deeply missed by wife Diane, step-daughters Tamara Taggart, Wendy (Mike) Erikson, grandchildren Ryan, Emily and Scott and great-granddaughter Olivia.
Danny also leaves behind sisters Yoshie, Umeno and brother Hideo (Nadia), five sister-in-laws and spouses, numerous nieces and nephews and their children ~ all of whom had a special place in his heart.
Danny was predeceased by father, Shirosuke Tanaka, mother Haru, brother Shigeru and three sisters Kazuko, Toshiko and Ayako.
Born on the family farm in Winfield, Danny was blessed with a green thumb that accounts for the beautiful, productive gardens he grew his entire life.
In the 1950's, Danny left B.C.'s interior for Vancouver where he was employed at CBC. Starting in the newsroom, he soon worked his way into film editing. In this niche, he worked on the Beachcombers and received 2 Anik Awards for Best Film Editor of docu-dramas. In the 1970's he formed his own company "Tanaka Films Inc." and made some excellent films for Fisheries.
In the 1990's, Danny retired to Vancouver Island, married Diane and became an enthusiastic, caring family man. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending quality time with good friends and family.
Service postponed until a sunny day in the Spring.
Donations could be made to Cancer Research or B.C. Children's Hospital
