Jan 27, 1940 – Jan 27, 2018
It is with great sadness that the family of David Bews announces his passing on Saturday, January 27, 2018, after a brief battle with lung cancer. David passed away with his loved ones at his side, on his 78th birthday.
David lived a full and adventurous life that began in the BC interior. In 1960 David joined the Royal Canadian Air Force as an air traffic controller. This led him overseas first to Marville, France, then to Lahr & Baden Baden, Germany. There he enjoyed the German lifestyle to its fullest.
Dave met and married the love of his life, Gusti, there. In 1994 David retired in the Comox Valley, and then spent his days following his dreams of golfing, fishing, camping, and boating. Most of these activities were with his best friend, his son Alexander. To his delight, he and Gusti were blessed with grandchildren in 2006 and 2008, which filled his days with joy.
David will be sadly missed by his wife, Gusti, son Alexander (Ara), grandchildren, Emily & Nicholas, brother Ken & family, sister Cindy & family, nieces Hollis & Dita (Mark), sister-in-law Karla (Heinz).
The family wishes to thank Dr. Stephan Matous for his excellent care in David’s final days.
A celebration of life will take place at the 888 Comox Wing on February 17, 2018 from 2-4 pm.
