MCARTHUR. David Graham

Dave passed away peacefully on March 11, 2010. He was born on May 27, 1918 in Nanaimo and was the last surviving offspring of James and Priscilla McArthur's 10 children. Dave proudly served his country in the Canadian Navy during WWII before he moved to the Comox Valley in 1946. He was a butcher by trade and worked for Cooke's Meat Market before he became the owner and proprietor of the Comox Meat market in 1957. In recognition of his service to his country and his trade, he proudly made and provided the Remembrance Day breakfast sausages for the Legion for a good part of his 50 year membership. Prior to his retirement he was also employed at Leung's Grocery as a meat cutter/butcher. Throughout his life he enjoyed the comfort of his loving family and spent much of his spare time sitting in the back yard with his black lab and watching the birds. Survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Helena, his son Murray (Judith), his daughters Joan (Dale) and Wendy, his granddaughter, Tabatha, his grandsons Sam (Adina) and Gabe (Yuki), his brother-in-law Jack Prestley, his long time friend, Fran Rae and many nieces and nephews. At Dave's request, there will be no public memorial service. The family wishes to thank all of Dave's family, friends and neighbours for the lovely cards, flowers and food and requests that any donations be made in his memory to the BC Lung Association or St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation. Many thanks to Dr. Reggler and the wonderful staff at St. Josephs's Hospital Extended Care Oceanview Lodge.
