David, a resident of Cumberland passed away peacefully on January 8, 2019. Predeceased by his first wife Ellen Haley and parents Rupert and Jean Haley, he is survived by his loving wife Cathy Riopelle, son Geoffrey Haley, daughter Alexa Haley, brothers Peter (Luci) Haley and Tim (Sakai) Haley.
David was a professor in Mathematics with an illustrious career spanning 36 years at Mannheim University and Lycoming College in Pennsylvania. He received his doctorate from Queen's University in Ontario and his post doctorate Habilitation from Mannheim University in Germany.
David was an avid and prolific European Silver Antique and African Stone Sculpture collector. He volunteered with the American Rescue Workers Organization and taught computer science along side his mathematics curricula.
David was a warm, outgoing and vivacious husband, father and friend with a love for music, art, animals and the lighter side of life. His keen intellect was second only to his wonderful sense of humor and an uncanny ability to make everyone he met feel welcomed and at ease.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at Comox Valley Funeral Home, Cremation and Reception Centre, 1101 Ryan Road, Courtenay on Tuesday, January 22nd at 3 pm.
