McINTYRE

David Bruce

November 28, 1948 - July 6, 2009

David McIntyre passed away July 06 2009 after a short stay at St. Joseph's Hospital. David was born in Vancouver on Nov. 28 1948 to Thomas and Beatrice McIntyre. During his childhood in Vancouver he enjoyed the outdoors and playing rugby in the city leagues. After receiving an Education Degree from the University of British Columbia in 1972, he moved north to Prince George for his first teaching job. Upon his marriage to Judith, they both settled down in the Comox Valley, a place David always loved. He taught in several schools including, Courtenay Junior, Robb Road and lastly Highland Senior Secondary. It brought David joy to remember the days of coaching sports teams and bringing history alive for his students. He also took great pride in creating a park-like oasis in his own back yard. David is survived by his wife Judith, daughter Kristi (Dale), mother Beatrice McIntyre of Richmond, brother Roderick (Aileen) McIntyre of St. Albert, and loving aunts, uncles and nephews. David was predeceased by his son Kent, and father Thomas. An intimate gathering of friends and family to be held 1pm July 13 at Saint Peter's Anglican Church in Comox. A special thanks to Father Lars Olsson, Dr. Sullivan, Dr Neufeld, and the nurses of the ICU. Donation to Palliative Care Unit in David's memory would be appreciated.
