April 4, 1939 - March 13, 2021
We are deeply saddened to say that on March 13th, 2021, David "Ritchie" Park passed away suddenly after a recurrence of cancer and a brief illness.
Ritch was born in Grafton, ND and grew up in Bathgate, ND. He was the youngest of three children.
Ritch graduated from the University of North Dakota with a Masters in Education and moved to Saskatchewan shortly thereafter to teach.
Ritch and Shelley met in Moose Jaw in 1981, where Ritch was a teacher at SIAST, and Shelley was a psychiatric nurse at the Union Hospital. They married in 1987.
In 1996, after 32 years, Ritch retired from SIAST, Moose Jaw and relocated to Vancouver Island to enjoy his hobby of classic cars. He entered his 1955 Desoto in numerous car shows over the years and belonged to various vintage car clubs on Vancouver Island.
In addition to his love of cars, Ritch enjoyed freshwater fishing, reading, following the Toronto Raptors and The Saskatchewan Roughriders. He was forever a gentleman and helpful to all that knew him. Polite and outgoing he enjoyed talking and meeting people wherever he went.
He also never forgot his roots and made his annual pilgrimage back to the prairies to visit his daughter Kristie (Saskatoon) and son John (Regina) as well as many other family, friends and co-workers in the SK area. He would also head south to North Dakota to visit his long-time school friends from Cavalier and the surrounding area, his sister Geraldine (Bismarck) and any of this parents' friends that were still around.
Ritch is predeceased by his parents Scott and Vera Park and brother-in-law Bob Morrison. He is survived by his wife; Shelley, daughter; Kristie (Chris) Barker, son; John (Melissa) Park, stepdaughters; Carie McGregor and Lauren Kelly, grandchildren; Brandon (Michelle), Felicia, Mackenzie, Harrison, Cassidy, Alden, Grayson and Lane, his sister; Geraldine Morrison, brother; Howard "Scott" Park (Moonyeen) and Kristie and John's mother Maxine Park.
Ritch will be dearly missed as we cherish the memories and love we shared with him. In lieu of flowers....... Think of Ritch on your walks or in conversations. Remember some of those talks you had with him, the fun times and the laughs you shared along the way.
