November 18, 1938 - June 22, 2021
It is with profound sadness that we report that David Roland "Red" Brown passed away on Tuesday, 22 June, at the age of 82. Dave was born on 19 November 1938 in Montreal QC.
He joined the RCAF in 1957 enjoying a 37 year career with many highlights from a personal and sport perspective. Most recently, he proudly served his last five years as the Honourary Colonel of 19 Air Maintenance Squadron at 19 Wing Comox, the very unit he commanded in his later years of service 1991 - 1993.
Dave was married to his wife of 61 years Kathi (Winram), they have one son Rick married to Sandy (Dunn) with two grandchildren Michael and Marissa. Michael is married to Kylie (Caldwell) and they have two great grandchildren Kayah (10), and Tavish (7). Marissa has a partner Michael Lutes.
Few people knew that Dave and Kathi represented Canada in the World ski-bobbing championships 67 - 69 (you may have to Google ski-bobbing). He was known for his love of the CF 104 Starfighter aircraft and its howling J-79 engine. We may hear him running one up one night. Dave was also famous, and will long be remembered, for his hugs.
In lieu of flowers, friends and family are encouraged to donate to 888 Wing Air Cadet Fund or your charity of choice.
