We are greatly saddened to announce the passing of Don Taylor of Comox BC. Don has left the challenges of this world behind after struggling courageously with crippling disease and pain for years.
Don was born in London, Ontario to Bob and Muriel Taylor, being the middle of three boys. Don and his brothers were raised in North Bay. He is survived by his brothers, Greg (Roz) of Bowmanville, and Glenn (Kelly) of Victoria.
Don is missed by his nieces and nephew Jason and Amanda, Marleen and Ruth. He is loved and missed by his daughter Elayne (Dylan) of the Okanagan and his grandchildren Scotty, Sarah and Grace. Don is dearly missed by his many close friends.
Don was raised in North Bay, Ontario and his adventurous nature led him to move to BC in the early seventies. For a number of years he was a commercial fisherman sailing out of Comox. Later he worked in construction both in the Comox Valley and Osoyoos. He returned to the coast to work on a coastal supply vessel and worked for BC Ferries for many years.
Don's gentle and generous nature earned him many friends. He always had time for a chat and loved a good laugh. He was very much a "people person". He was a strong and willing worker, always happy to help wherever he could. Don enjoyed his time outdoors, whether at sea or in the countryside.
Don loved animals; he was an accomplished horseman and had several dogs. Don loved this beautiful country and spent many hours driving the backroads to remote spots. In his younger years Don loved touring on one of his motorcycles. Sunday afternoons were spent watching football, especially if his Steelers were playing.
Rest In Peace, Don.
