Donna Louise Bews (nee Douglas), resident of Courtenay BC, formerly from North Vancouver, passed away on May 11, 2020 at North Island Hospital in Courtenay at the age of 83.
For her entire life, Donna was dedicated to her family and had a rare gift for entertaining, particularly playing piano and singing. She had a gregarious personality that others found exceptionally appealing and always left an indelible impression. She also was a gifted artist, frequently sketching and painting landscapes. In her retirement she was committed to the Evergreen Seniors Choir as pianist for several years, playing all types of songs ranging from Scottish melodies to Broadway classics.
Donna is survived by and was a loving mother of two children, Ross Braes (David Bulmer) and Dena Louise Morro (Pete Morro) and was a devoted wife to her husband James David Scott Bews for thirty-two years (d. 1991). She is also survived by her adoring grandchildren: Kristy Morro, Jessica Morro, Amy Morro (Don Murray) and her great-grandson Zaya Morro. As well, Donna was predeceased by her younger brother, Gordon Wayne Douglas (d. 2016) and her mother, Jennie Mary Douglas (d. 1998).
In accordance with Donna's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will occur at a later date. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
