Doris passed away peacefully on November 2nd at The Views. The family would like to thank all the health care staff at the North Island Hospital and The Views for their kind and compassionate care in the last few months of her life.
Predeceased by her husband Bill MacNaughton, her husband Spencer Wallace, her son Ian MacNaughton and her brother Jerry Macdonald. Doris is survived by her daughters Margot Yamagishi (Kunio) and Janis MacNaughton, her grandchildren Graeme Yamagishi (Lisa), Meghan Yamagishi (Andrew), Alasdair Yamagishi and Austin MacNaughton, her brother Roy Macdonald (Peggy) and her sister-in-law Nancy Macdonald.
Doris was born in Victoria and moved to Courtenay shortly after and spent her life in the Comox Valley. Following her mother Doris became a piano teacher after completing her Diplomas in Piano Teaching and Piano Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music. During WWII Doris joined the Canadian Women's Army Corps Pipe Band. The band toured Canada and was later posted to The Netherlands which inspired her lifelong love of travel.
During her early years Doris was a member of the Fanny Dunkers Ski Club and she and her family spent many winters skiing. She was a pianist for Co-Val Choristers and a supporter of CYMC. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the Nile lodges.
A private burial service will be attended by family and a Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.
