Doris passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital in Comox on May 9, 2009 at the age of 93 (or as she would say, 93 and a half!).
Predeceased by her loving husband Freeman, Doris is survived by and will be missed by daughters Donna Messer (Jim) and Arlene Elias (Al).
She will also be remembered lovingly and often by granddaughters Susan Byers, Sharon Thompson, and Janice Wright.
The family wishes to thank Mrs. Doris Flynn who taught us all that it's never too late to make a new best friend and to all others who opened up their hearts to her after she relocated to Comox just 1 1/2 years ago to be closer to family.
Also worthy of sincere thanks are Dr. Lissa Benson, the St. Joseph's third floor nursing staff and especially Russ for figuring out a way to get us internet access so that the entire family had a chance to say hello and goodbye. To us, this act was nothing short of heroic.
Doris will be cremated and returned to her beloved Toronto where she spent the majority of and best years of her life.
