With much sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Dorothy Winrow. She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on November 27, 2018. Dorothy was born in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, England on May 24, 1928. She joined her family in Canada, and moved to the Comox Valley in 1982. Dorothy was a devoted mother, to whom family meant everything. She was known by many, but especially her family, for her smile, warm heart and delicious baking. She is predeceased by her husband, Tommy, and daughter, Denise (Paul). Dorothy will be dearly missed by her sons Michael (Lindsay), Ian (Teresa) and her daughter, Linda Taylor; her brother, Bryan (Hilda) and sisters Edna and Glenys (Arthur). Dorothy was an amazing Nan Nan to Liane, Sarah, Nicole, Scott, Clare, Cole, Brianna, Tommy and Emma - as well as a loving Great-Grandmother to 14 great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Galik, Kathy and the staff at Valley Care Medical Centre for their care and support. Thank you also to The Red Cross (Health Equipment Lending Program), CV Hospice Society, the nurses from VIHA Home Care Nursing, as well as Island Health Home Support Services. There will be a gathering of family and close friends in Courtenay at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Red Cross (HELP).
