Douglas ‘Doug’ Gordon Cyril
July 21, 1934 ~ September 14, 2009
Doug passed away peacefully in his sleep, at the age of 75 years, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Doug was a loving, devoted husband and soul mate to his wife Sheron, who will miss him deeply. He is also survived by his brother Ron Ruffell (Marina); daughters Sylvia (Tom), Teri (Mark), Ro (Kevin) and Lea; sons Doug, George and Robb; 27 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many devoted and loving friends. Doug was predeceased by his parents Martha and Cyril.
Doug was an active member of the Elks Lodge and a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
Sheron wishes to express her sincere thanks to everyone for the support and love they have given her during this difficult time. Special thanks to Dr. de Wet and Dr. Venter for their care, and to all the nurses on Unit 35, along with his daycare nurses at the Wetaskiwin Hospital.
Respecting Doug’s wishes, he will be cremated and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date with his family and friends.
