PLOUFFE, Dr. Harvey D.

Born August 15,1946, died at home on June 21, 2012 with his dear wife and soulmate, Doreen and close friends at his side. Harvey lived life with courage and dignity and the last 15 months of his life with cancer was no exception. Harvey and Doreen remained fully present to each other as they faced this very difficult journey, a testament to the depth of their love of 36 years. As Harvey so poignantly commented recently, ‘our true strength is found in our vulnerability’.

Harvey’s dearest and deepest joy lives on in his family with Doreen, their son, Kelly, his wife Wendy and their two beautiful granddaughters, Kamryn and Kennedy. Their daughter, Shelby, her husband Andy and sweet grandson Lucas, sister in-law Diane (Bob), nephew Ric and niece Alisa. Loved extended family June and Al and granddaughters Enya and Olivia .

Harvey’s grandchildren were the shining lights of his life. Harvey is also survived by his brother Gus (Carol), nieces Monique and Carey, and brother Roger (Eunice).

Harvey deeply connected with his friends throughout his life, many who had become part of his extended family. He was father, brother, uncle and grandfather and cherished each of these relationships.

Known as a gifted Healer, Harvey touched many lives. He was committed to learning and to passing his gift on to others. With fierce grace, a tender heart, and wisdom derived from knowledge as well as experience, Harvey could open to the most difficult places, sustain a healing presence and support the journey, the hero’s journey, in himself and others. And each of us who have known Harvey have been touched by his extraordinary gift.

Harvey’s last place of work was with CFB Comox. He found a strong and wonderful team of colleagues there and loved his work with clients. Harvey felt deeply supported at work, especially through the many months living with illness.

Harvey loved life, loved his family so much, his friends, colleagues and clients. His spirit is etched in our hearts as we remember his love, his spirit, his beautiful irreverent humour, his skill in his craft, and his compassion.

Special thanks to all those who helped support Harvey and his family through his journey.
