Bourque, Edgar Joseph
February 10, 1914 – January 28, 2007
Edgar Bourque passed away peacefully in Comox, British Columbia on January 28th, 2007. He was predeceased by his parents Jeffrey and Denise (LeBlanc) Bourque of Shediac, New Brunswick, his wife Nema, brother Leondre, stepsister Denise and stepmother Regina. Edgar is survived by and will be missed by his sister Lillian Brown of Courtenay, B.C., stepsister Bernadette, stepbrothers Yvon, Normand and Leonce of New Brunswick, many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and an “almost daughter” Cathie Marson.
Edgar and Nema retired and moved to Courtenay in 1974, attached a workshop to their home and Edgar spent his retirement years crafting a variety of items of show piece quality. He was a very talented individual who started out as a sawyer in his father’s sawmill, took a drafting course and developed into a quality Stone Mason, worked at Canadian Car and Foundry as a machinist and finished off his working years managing an engine repair facility in Rouyn, Quebec.
Edgar enjoyed a wonderful career and life. He enjoyed his years in Courtenay, fishing with his friends Fred and Maggie Beech, his neighbours, and helping anyone who needed something repaired or manufactured. Edgar was a Knight of Columbus for 53 years. With the passing of his wife, he moved into Casa Loma Assisted Living and thoroughly enjoyed his time there and the support from Home Care Workers. He was moved to St. Joseph’s Extended Care Unit (ECU) for exactly one month and then God came and took him home. Thanks to all the staff at ECU and to Dr. Laura Bell. Edgar will be deeply missed by Gloria and Bud Faubert and family.
Prayers and viewing were held at COMOX VALLEY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIUM, COURTENAY, B.C. on Wednesday, January 31st and a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 1st, 2007 with Fr.
