BOYKO, Edith Gertrude

Oct. 22, 1914 ~ May 18, 2012

Edith the beloved wife of John passed peacefully at the C.V. Seniors Village in the early morning of May 18th. She was 97 ½ years. Born in Cumberland in 1914 to Abraham and Gertrude Taylor and later a sister to Muriel, Edith and family later moved to 5th St. in Courtenay where she lived a happy and care-free childhood.

One day during WWII a handsome and charming young soldier named John Boyko engaged her in conversation and in June 1947 they were married. Edith and John lived on Cumberland Rd. all their married life.

Edith was a bubbly, happy person. She loved to sing and recite Bible scripture and everyone knew her laugh. Her love for the Lord Jesus was evident by her love for everyone and telling them she prayed for them.

Predeceased by her parents, her husband John in 1989 and her sister Muriel in 2002.

Edith is the last surviving member of her immediate family in Canada. She is survived by John’s family in Alberta and her large Christian family who she loved dearly
