Pat passed away peacefully in the presence of family on November 3rd 2020 ~ 84 years strong. She lived life on her own terms and she departed the same way. Pat was a force of nature. Perhaps she didn't have a choice.
She was named after her "larger than life" aunt, her genteel mother, and her ancestors whom settled most of Western Canada. With a twinkle in her eye, she had a commanding presence and a mischievous streak.
Pat was an unassuming beauty. She was polished, principled, discreet, hilarious, charming and unapologetic when voicing her opinions. She was extremely perceptive and observant. Pat was a perfectionist at heart, with an appetite for the finer things in life.
Some of her passions included; history, politics, classical music, ballet, interpretive dance, animals, trees, and the West Coast. Influenced by her father's past times, she had a keen interest in boxing, rowing, curling, and the great outdoors.
She gave fully as a loyal officer's wife, and a dedicated mother of 3. She married in her mid-twenties and supported her husband dutifully for 54 years. They travelled much and had many life-long friends across the globe. Pat was a true home maker; an excellent cook, skilled seamstress, gifted painter, talented housekeeper, and a gracious hostess. She delighted in a good soiree.
When Pat was hit with a triple tragic diagnosis in the fall of 2019, she took the high road. She met her illness with dignity, strength and courage.
Most of all, Pat loved her family, friends and dogs deeply.
She will be tremendously missed by her children; Colleen Jones, Scott Richardson and Jill Mitchell, her in-laws, grandchildren, remaining extended family and friends. She is pre-deceased by her loving husband Ron, her immediate family and many life-long friends. Many thanks to Dr. Olson, Dr. Phang and her palliative care team for their support.
