GILLESPIE - Edward David, “Dave,” passed away in the presence of his loving daughters at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Comox, on Saturday, September 21st, 2002. Predeceased by his first wife Patricia Gillespie (nee McNeil), sister-in-law Laura Gillespie and brother in-law Don Ormsby, Dave is survived by daughters Cathy (Bob) Beardmore and Judy Gillespie (“Tank”); grandchildren Bobby, Jessie, Will, Ciele and Codi; brother Ron Gillespie in Ontario; sisters Cynthia Ormsby, Silvia (Bill) Marks and Joan (Bruce) Tredger, all of Ontairo; Godson Roy (Cavell) Watson; cousin Stephen (Sandy) Fryer; his many nieces and nephews and sisters and brothers-in-law in Ontario and B.C. Dave was an active member of the Baynes Sound Lions Club, the Union Bay Crib Club, the Royal Canadian Legion, Masonic Lodge and Sunshine Homes, when he resided in Powell River. He worked in the ball bearing industry from 1954 to 1995 and following his retirement, helped his son-in-law in the water business, and always found time to spoil his grandchildren. Viewing and visitation will take place from the Chapel of COMOX VALLEY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 1001 RYAN ROAD on Wednesday, September 25th from 11:00 a.m. to 12 noon, followed by Funeral Services at 1:00 p.m. with interment at Courtenay Civic Cemetery. Friends are then invited to join family for fellowship and refreshments at the Union Bay Community Hall. For those wishing, donations in Dave’s memory to the Baynes Sound Lions Club, P.O.
