Edward Isidore Gaspard

January 21, 2006

Gaspard, Edward Isidore

Passed away on January 21, 2006 in White Rock. Though born in Vancouver in 1922, he spent most of his childhood in Williams Lake. As did so many of his era, early adulthood was spent in the military. Ed spent four years in the Navy, on both sides of our continent, and overseas. With the end of the War, he entered the field of electronics, a fledgling discipline that would have been all but unknown to society. His work took him across North America, working on a variety of military projects. By the early 1960’s, he joined the teaching staff of BCIT, and spent over 20 years instructing in the Electrical and Electronics Department. Perhaps Ed’s greatest passion however was working with young people, coaching hurdles in Track and Field. His coaching efforts transitioned him from his working years, into a fruitful and productive retirement. Ed coached first in Surrey, and later in the Comox Valley. As a husband, father and grandfather, he will be missed. Edward is predeceased by his brother Victor, and is lovingly remembered by his wife Agnes; daughter Joanne; son Jim; daughter-in-law Gina; and grandchildren Laura, Michelle and Eric. At Ed’s request, he will be cremated and there will be no service.
