Moncrief, Edward William

October 1, 1957 - September 29, 2009

My friend, Your friend, Our friend

After a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer, Ed passed away peacefully at the age of 51 in his home, comforted by his wife of 25 years and his three children. Survived by his wife Greba, and kids Andrew, Stuart, and Sydney, parents Bronco & Kay Moncrief, sister Julie (Mike Smith), niece Cor (Mike McNamee), in-laws BJ Gustafson, Jim & Cindy Gustafson, Art & JoAnn Hobson, niece Aynsley, nephew Elliott, Bob & Val Gustafson, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Ed was born and raised in Cumberland which he was very proud of, and was a lifetime resident of the Comox Valley. Lake time was most precious to Ed. We spent many weekends at the lake with family and friends leading to the initiation of the Comox Lake Water Ski Club where he met his wife Greba who was teaching windsurfing at the time.

Thirty five years in the logging industry was one of his true passions, and he had always hoped to get back in the woods. He spoke of logging and his work buddies always, and if Ed wasn’t with his family he was in the woods somewhere or was carpentering for someone and loved it.

Ed’s laugh and sense of humor was an inspiration to those who knew him and will be greatly missed by us all.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 10th at the CRI Hall in Cumberland at I:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers a donation in Ed’s memory to a local chairty would be appreciated.

A special thanks to nurses Tammy and Val. Dr. Dave Musgrave, your compassion and caring is very much appreciated and I thank you.
